The Hourglass: three sizes
The Hourglass is the classic WoodWick: a glass jar in the shape of an hourglass, with a wooden wick that crackles as it burns. WoodWick calls this wick Pluswick. There are three sizes:
- Mini: 85 g, according to WoodWick about 15 to 30 hours of burn time.
- Medium: 275 g, about 50 to 65 hours.
- Large: 609 g, about 90 to 140 hours.
A mini is handy for getting to know a scent or as a small gift. A large lasts the longest.
The Ellipse: a long, wide flame
The Ellipse comes in an oval glass jar and has a wide wooden wick, the Hearthwick. It gives a long, wide flame and also crackles. An Ellipse weighs 453 g and, according to WoodWick, burns for about 40 to 65 hours.
Light an Ellipse at one end: the flame spreads along the wick by itself. Trimming is not normally needed.
The Trilogy: three scents in one candle
A Trilogy has three layers, each with its own scent, that go together. According to WoodWick, the layers melt together as the candle burns, so the scent changes while it burns. The Trilogy comes in three forms, with the same burn time and weight as the standard version:
- Medium Hourglass: 275 g, about 50 to 65 hours.
- Large Hourglass: 609 g, about 90 to 140 hours.
- Ellipse: 453 g, about 40 to 65 hours.
Which one to choose?
- You want to try a scent: a mini Hourglass.
- You want it to burn as long as possible: a large Hourglass.
- You like a big flame and lots of crackling: an Ellipse.
- You cannot choose between scents: a Trilogy.
Getting the full burn time
